Kushano Sasanians Ardashir I Kushanshah circa 230-250 AD. AE Unit
17.65mm 2.63gm. Ardaxsir standing facing head left sacrificing over [altar] and
holding scepter / Mithra seated facing raising right hand across chest
[tamgha to left]. Carter - Cribb 15 MK 1114 (Shahpur II Zeno #53809.
Very fine (better in hand).
 
 
Note:
The Kushano-sasanians were sasanian princes ruling
the old kushan lands in Bactria the Kabul valley and Gandhara as
sasanian vasalls. Some periods these kushan-shahs were more or less
independent like this ruler Hormazd I Kushanshah ruling about AD
295-325 (or 270-295 according to Cribb). Mint for this type might be the
Kabul valley.
