Kushano Sasanians Ohrmazd (Hormizd) I Kushanshah. Circa AD 265-295. AE Unit.
2.41gm 15.5-19.3mm. Harid mint.
Draped bust of Hormizd I to right wearing crown with decorated korymbos
and a lion's head before head / Shiva standing facing and holding trident in
his left hand behind him his comagnion the bull Nandi staning left.
MK 1032 Cribb type 22v. Very fine natural green patina.
 
 
Note:
The Kushano-sasanians were sasanian princes ruling
the old kushan lands in Bactria the Kabul valley and Gandhara as
sasanian vasalls. Some periods these kushan-shahs were more or less
independent like this ruler Hormazd I Kushanshah ruling about AD
295-325 (or 270-295 according to Cribb). Mint for this type might be the
Kabul valley.
