Kushano Sasanians Hormizd I (Kobad) Kushanshah. Circa AD 265-295. AE Unit.
4.22gm 17.8mm. Merv or Bactria mint.?
Bearded draped bust of Hormizd I or Kobad to the right wearing lion-head crown topped by a globe or flower Bactrian legend at right / Fire altar with bust of Ahura Mazda emerging at the top symbol on the altar shaft.
MAC 1293 Gobl 1122 Cribb 34. Extremely fine Clear legends natural earthen patina. Rare.
 
 
Note:
The Kushano-sasanians were sasanian princes ruling
the old kushan lands in Bactria the Kabul valley and Gandhara as
sasanian vasalls. Some periods these kushan-shahs were more or less
independent like this ruler Hormazd I Kushanshah ruling about AD
295-325 (or 270-295 according to Cribb). Mint for this type might be the
Kabul valley.
