Kushano Sasanians Kings of Merv under Shapur I AD 240-270. AE unit.
16mm 2.9gm. Merv mint. Sasanian style bust LEFT / mounted figure carrying upright spear riding left traces of legend or streamers behind head. Alram 1218A var Zeno #108674 (right bust).  Good Very fine. Extremely rare for bust left.
 
 
Note:
The Kushano-sasanians were sasanian princes ruling
the old kushan lands in Bactria the Kabul valley and Gandhara as
sasanian vasalls. Some periods these kushan-shahs were more or less
independent like this ruler Hormazd I Kushanshah ruling about AD
295-325 (or 270-295 according to Cribb). Mint for this type might be the
Kabul valley.
